# AI workshops for people and HR teams

Hands-on AI workshops for People and HR teams, built on their own policies, leave, reviews, surveys and hiring. AI takes the first pass on the routine work, so more of the team’s time goes to the people side of the job.

## Where it starts

People teams are often told to use AI and never shown how.

Most already have the tools: ChatGPT or Claude, an automation tool such as Zapier, and an HR or recruiting system. What leaders of these teams tend to see:

- a few people building their own dashboards and bots, and others unsure AI belongs in their work
- automations that break, with nobody on the team who can tell why
- something useful built on one laptop, with no easy way to share it
- employee data that has to stay out of the wrong places

## What teams like this work on

People teams have a head start.

Giving an agent a clear brief and written context, splitting the work between several of them, and checking what comes back until it can be trusted is close to how the team already hires, onboards and manages people. The sessions build on that.

Each workshop runs on the team’s own work. From People teams so far:

**Policy questions**

An agent that answers employees’ questions from the team’s own written policies, in place of a separate knowledge base tool.

**Leave packets**

A skill that builds each leave packet from one template, with every state’s rules kept as its own reference file.

**Review cycles**

A performance review skill, and a reminder that nudges managers when their reviews are due.

**Engagement surveys**

Survey results summarized and drafted into a deck for leadership.

**A morning briefing**

A short summary each morning of the news and the work each person is responsible for.

## What stays human

Most People teams have already drawn these lines. The sessions build around them.

- Conversations with candidates and employees, coaching included.
- Decisions about people, which stay with the people who make them.
- Employee data. The hands-on work in the sessions uses an invented company’s data, and each person decides what of their own work goes into their tools.

## What changes

By the third session, the team is showing what it built.

One People team brought a real project each to the second session. By the third, the room was showing a performance review skill, a leader’s morning briefing, a policy agent and an engagement survey deck, and asking how to share them with the rest of the company.

> “I use AI almost every day as a thought partner and force multiplier across my work as a People leader.”
>
> Kelly Scheib, Chief People Officer, Crunchbase

> “I would recommend it to leaders, People teams, operators, educators, and anyone whose work involves making sense of information, communicating clearly, or making better decisions. I would tell them that the value is not just learning a set of tools. It is learning a better way to work with AI while keeping human judgment, context, and accountability at the center.”

## Questions

### **Is it safe to use AI with employee data?**

The workshop doesn’t ask anyone to share employee data. The hands-on work uses an invented company’s data. Each person then works out, with their own IT and legal leads, what real data can go into which tools.

### **Will this replace people on the team?**

The sessions start from the parts of the job the team wants to keep human and build around them. The aim is more time for the work with people, not fewer people.

### **Our team ranges from power users to people who barely use AI. Does that work?**

Yes. People teams are often spread that way, from someone already building dashboards to someone unsure AI belongs in their work. The sessions explain what’s underneath first, so everyone starts from the same ground, and then each person works on their own tasks.

### **Which tools does it use?**

The ones the team already has. That’s usually ChatGPT or Claude, connected to tools such as Zapier and the team’s HR and recruiting systems.
